Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 May 2026

Acceptance

By downloading or using Innous, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Using the app

Innous grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for personal journaling. You agree not to misuse the app, attempt to disrupt its services, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

Your content and acceptable use

Everything you write in Innous belongs to you and stays on your device. Innous claims no ownership of your entries and does not access them. You are solely responsible for the content you create.

You agree not to use Innous to create, store, transmit, or request AI analysis of content that: is illegal in your jurisdiction; depicts, describes, or sexualises minors in any way; incites violence, terrorism, or harm to identifiable persons or groups; defames, harasses, threatens, or stalks any person; infringes any third party's intellectual property or privacy; constitutes spam or malware; or violates Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy. See the full Acceptable Use Policy.

AI insights

When enabled, AI insights are generated by a third-party model (Google Gemini) and are provided for personal reflection only. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. It is not professional medical, psychological, legal, financial, or safety advice, and you agree not to rely on it for any decision affecting your health, safety, finances, legal position, or any other consequential matter. If you are in crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency service.

Subscriptions

Innous offers an optional premium subscription, billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can manage or cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Innous and its developer from and against any claim, loss, liability, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of: your content; your use of or inability to use Innous; your violation of these Terms or any referenced policy; or your violation of any law or the rights of any third party. This obligation survives termination of these Terms.

No warranties (AS-IS)

Innous is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty of any kind — whether express, implied, or statutory — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of AI output, or uninterrupted service, except where excluding such warranties is prohibited by applicable law. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Innous and its developer are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app. Our total aggregate liability for any claim shall not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred pounds sterling (£100). Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

Suspension of AI access

We may suspend or terminate your access to AI features at any time, with or without notice, if we have reason to believe you have violated these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, or Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy. Suspension is enforced at the device and request level. It does not affect your ability to read and write entries locally on your device.

Age requirement

You must be at least 16 years old (EEA and UK) or at least 13 years old (rest of world) to use Innous. By using Innous you confirm that you meet this requirement.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except that consumers resident in another country may also bring proceedings in the courts of their country of habitual residence under applicable mandatory law.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be notified in the app, and you may be asked to re-accept before continuing to use AI features. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
